Mid-Week Inspiration

Welcome back. It seems to appear that Christmas crafting is here. I am still enjoying the Halloween season but it’s nice to be prepared. If we sent one Christmas card or 100, having a plan or an idea helps. I hope sharing my idea of how to use your stamps as a background helps with your Christmas crafting.

As crafters, we tend to be collectors and don’t utilize our stash as we should. I enjoy using some of my smaller stamps as a background and then using the larger images as a focal point on my cards. Let me show you how!

After choosing my image, I use a stamping block to randomly stamp the image on my background. I try not to be too consistent and I stamp off the paper so it doesn’t look too perfect. Depending how and if I want to color the images is what ink I use. I think I have sprinkled this information into previous blog posts, but I will create one specifically for ink and stamping. We all want the best results possible. If you choose not to color in your images, colored ink can give great a look too. Want a monochromatic look? Leave it be and enjoy creating the rest of the card.

I usually always color in my larger images because I use them as focal points. It can be fun to ink blend a background and use water reactive ink such as distress oxides, then use a background die to create a background that way. This way your focal images are part of a scene.

I hope I was able to give you some mid-week inspiration. Please check out my Instagram @sewmuchglitter to check out what I have been up to. Say HI while you’re there. If you have a fun way of using your craft stash for projects let me know in the comments. As always, if I inspired you to create a project similar to this, tag #sewmuchglitter. Spreading positivity and inspiration in 2020 will help us and others.

30 day Color Challenge

Hello again! As I prepare for the daily marker 30 day color challenge, I find myself adding to my craft stash, once again (shhh). I wanted to share this challenge with you because I have recently started using my stamps in a different way (different for me). In doing this, I realized other crafters probably use certain supplies in certain ways too, which is why some of us have so much stuff (I am some of us).

I have always used my stamps on cards. My inks were used for blending, etc. I had never thought to use anything together. Everything had a place. I am sure this has already occurred to a lot of you but my creative journey isn’t always fast.

In discovering the daily marker on YouTube, I also discovered that different mediums can compliment each other. Most of mine were living separately. Now, I am eager to explore water coloring while using my pencils to compliment that same image. I am having fun coloring over a stamped image.

I invite you to join this journey with me, we can inspire each other!

I will be posting my coloring projects Instagram @sewmuchglitter as well as sharing this challenge with you here. This isn’t a total time commitment, just some fun me time (we all deserve that). Let me know in the comments how you share your mediums.

Be sure to subscribe as I will be back very soon with a project.
